Zinc/Tin Coated Roofing
Follansbee Roofing is the manufacturer of the Terne II, a stylish, colorful, and energy efficient roofing product. The Terne II is a new and improved version of Terne metal which was used as far back as colonial times. It is coated with Follansbee’s new ZT alloy and has the ability to resist corrosion in any environment.
The ZT alloy is a combination of zinc and tin. In recent performance tests, Follansbee products coated with this alloy surpassed 30,250 hours of exposure without any sign of rust. Most manufacturers are proud to exceed only 2,000 hours. These tests included extended exposure to salt spray cabinets and condensation chambers.
The Terne II has been engineered to distinguish between residential and commercial grade applications. The residential grade Terne II was designed to be more economical. However, Follansbee was careful not to compromise its performance. The company maintains that the residential Terne II will outperform all other commonly used metals in residential applications.
The Terne II is available pre-painted from the manufacturer. Follansbee uses Valspar’s high performance 70% Kynar 500 or the Hylar 5000 Fluropon SR paint coatings. These coatings are designed to provide a solar-reflective cool roof to help reduce home energy costs and each are Energy Star qualified.
