Soundproof Wood
Quiet Wood, from Quiet Solutions – a division of Serious Materials, can be used in exterior walls, sub-floors, and roof sheathing to significantly reduce the transmission of unwanted noise into adjacent rooms. In fact, Quiet Wood has the highest STC rating of any wood product. STC stands for sound transmission class and refers to a material’s ability to resist airborne sound transfer. In general, a higher STC rating means that a partition is better able to block sound at a given frequency.
The Quiet Wood panel is an internally damped engineered wood product that can be used in existing or new construction projects. Typical applications for Quiet Wood include multifamily construction and high-end single family residences.
This product can be used with standard framing, masonry, and concrete construction and is still able to achieve high sound isolation. When used with alternative framing techniques, its isolation ability can be enhanced even further.
Builders should know that Quiet Wood requires no additional installation time or labor. The install time is the same as with standard wood.
