Paper Based Countertops

PaperStone composite surface materials were first brought to market in September 2003. PaperStone is designed to give the beauty of stone, the strength of steel, with ease of workmanship. Since the original design there has been much advancement to the product line. PaperStone has a 100% water based resin system and uses a proprietary custom-made paper that is a guaranteed minimum of 50% post consumer recycled paper!

PaperStone Certified is a FSC certified product that has been approved by SmartWood and the Rainforest Alliance. PaperStone uses a 100% post-consumer recycled paper that is FSC certified and custom-made specifically for PaperStone by the Grays Harbor Paper Company. A water base resin system is used that has non-petroleum based phenols and when finished has no detectable free formaldehyde. These are huge advancements in paper and resin. More advancements on the horizon is in the area of cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL) phenols. The goal is to one day use only CSNL phenols. While this is a great new product, there will be continual innovations in the area of environmentally responsible products.
