Noise Proofing Clips

Founded in 2003, the Green Glue Company is a leading producer of sound isolation products used in residential noise proofing applications.  The company’s newest product, the Green Glue Noise Proofing Clip, is the highest performing sound clip on the market today.  The clips work by mechanically separating the sides of each wall.  This serves to significantly reduce the transmission of vibrations that are often the principle source of noise.           

The Green Glue Noise Proofing Clips are installed by simply screwing them into the wall studs on new builds.  Next, the hat channel is snapped into the clips and, lastly, the drywall is screwed into the channel.  When used in conjunction with the Green Glue Damping Adhesive, approximately 95% more noise can be reduced than what could be accomplished through conventional soundproofing techniques.

Independent testing of the Green Glue Noise Proofing Clips alongside a perfectly installed resilient channel yielded the following results.

In a standard wood-stud wall with two layers of drywall on each side:

• The Green Glue Noise Proofing Clips attained an STC (Sound Transmission Class) score of 63, while

• The resilient channel produced an STC score of only 54.

The Sound Transmission score is the industry measurement system used to determine how effective a particular wall is at stopping sound transmission.
