NightBreeze Residential Ventilation Cooling System

NightBreeze is a field tested residential ventilation cooling system that enhances indoor air quality (IAQ) and cuts energy use by 30%. The NightBreeze system was developed to eliminate the need for air conditioning in mild climates and reduce the size of air conditioners in hotter climates. The technology includes an automatic damper that allows the house to be ventilated and cooled without opening windows. NightBreeze reduces interior mass temperatures by providing active ventilation with cool night air and the cool interior mass absorbs heat during the daytime to reduce or eliminate air conditioning load. The technology integrates with heating and air conditioning systems.

Advanced Energy Products, Corporation (AEP) was formed to commercialize NightBreeze. AEP has 15 pre-production units in place and is monitoring 4 units for DOE & SCE. PG&E is offering incentives of $750-$1,000 per unit starting in 2006.
