NanoLED TEchnology

Nanomaterials and Nanofabrication Laboratories (NN-Labs) is providing a wide range of high-quality and inexpensive nanocrystals. These semiconductor nanocrystals provide superior brightness and color for LEDs and LED displays. The advanced NanoLED technology offers 2,000 hrs operation lifetime, 600 cd/m2 brightness and 0.4% external quantum efficiency. The technology will possess the advantages of both conventional LEDs and OLEDs and offer narrow intrinsic bandwidths and continuously tunable colors.

NN-Labs was awarded the National Science Foundation (NSF) Phase II grant, "Highly efficient, long lifetime, and inexpensive nanocrystal light emitting diodes (LEDs)" in February 2004. They seek upfront investment for further development and to bring the technology to the commercial market by 2008.
